Most health concerns can wait for a scheduled appointment, but some symptoms are worth acting on quickly. Knowing the difference can make a real difference to how a condition is managed.
Important: this is not for medical emergencies
Hluma Medical Care Centre is a private medical practice, not an emergency facility. If you or someone with you is experiencing a life-threatening emergency – such as severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, signs of stroke, or loss of consciousness – contact emergency services or go to your nearest emergency department immediately. Do not wait for a scheduled appointment.
Symptoms worth a prompt, non-emergency doctor visit
Outside of emergencies, it’s still worth being seen sooner rather than later if you notice: a fever that persists for several days, pain that is worsening rather than improving, symptoms that are unusual for you, or anything that is significantly affecting your ability to function day to day.
Trust your judgement
You know your body better than anyone else. If something feels genuinely wrong, it’s always reasonable to seek an assessment rather than wait it out – a GP would rather see you and confirm it’s nothing serious than have you delay.
